It Just Rolls Off the Tongue So Nicely…

Hello hello! I know how much you’ve missed me and girls have I missed you!

As a special treat for being oh so patient with my absence, I want to introduce you to a new BEAUTY LINE today. Girls meet Alessandra. Alessandra meet my girls.

I recently learned about Alessandra from one of my lovely Girls on Top, Allison, and she so graciously provided me with several samples of Alessandra products. Today, I’m going to praise the lip gloss (you will be hearing more about Alessandra in the future, don’t you worry).

I’ve been using the color “Cassandra” for the last few days and, girls, I’m really liking it! It’s natural shade of pink that gives me just the perfect amount of color for my day.

Tip of the Day: If you’re going bold with your eyes (day or night), tone down your lips. Cassandra is a great gloss to balance sultry eyes.

All Alessandra products are mineral products that are filled with nutrients to help your skin, not hurt it. Your very own Girl on Top gives mineral products two big thumbs up (I’ve told you this before…).

Below I have provided you with the link to the Alessandra website. Based in Chicago, you can visit Exhale Spa to have your eyebrows done by Alessandra herself.

Check out the “About Alessandra” as well as the “Mineral Makeup” tabs. I’m really digging her motto on beauty — “enhance, not mask.” Sounds a lot like someone I know…

Did I Just Say Spa Week?

Yup. You heard me right. Spa Week. I’m sure you know of Restaurant Week, well a few genii (Wikipedia says that’s the plural, whatever, sue me) invented Spa Week and here we are today to reap the benefits.

From April 12th-18th enjoy $50 (you read that right) spa treatments at participating spas. Be sure to ask the spa about special spa MONTH promotions. You might just be one lucky girl!

And I’m giving you the link right here: Girl on Top Has Your Back!

It Ain’t Easy Being Green

But Vincent Longo can make it a little easier for you…

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day (though I’m sitting at a desk rather than out at a bar celebrating), I present you  with VL Vibrant Eye Waterproof Liner.

Vincent Longo’s philosophy is to create products that don’t yet exist but he wishes they did. How nice of him, right? No, I think it more like “thanks for doing your job, Beauty Product Line CREATOR.” Sorry, bitchy moment.

ANYWAY… what VL does do is give you the greatest palette of colors to work with! All of VL colors are bold, beautiful and definitely make a statement. I think they are fabulous and oh so fun!

I own VL’s green liner and it is such an easy product to work with! The brush is itty-bitty to give you precision lines and it definitely has all day (and all night) staying power.

Thus, I guess I would warn you that that’s the only thing I don’t totally love about the product . You seriously have to work to get this baby off — no easy access here.

Try it at your own risk and have fun!

Vincent Longo is available online or at Sephora.

Who is Rosebud?

The best kept secret in cine…ok we aren’t going there. Anyway, ta da!! I’m back…and with the multi-purpose cure-all lip balm. I kid you not, Rosebud Salve Lip Balm can be used for alllllll of your dry-ness woes.

Want the list? Well you’re going to get it…

1. Heals Dry Lips

2. Heals Chapped Lips

3. Soothes Irritated Lips

4. Conditions Dry Elbows

5. Conditions Dry Knees

6. Heals Diaper Rash (who knows, maybe some of you can use it?)

7. Soothes Burns

Rosebud Salve has a lot of the same properties as Vaseline — I will help with a lot of the same issues. BUT Rosebud carries a pleasant scent and a slightly pinkish tint for those of you who want a glow for your lips.

I LOVE this lip balm — and how awesome is the tin container?

Looking for something small to add to a gift? Rosebud Salve makes a great addition!

Girl on Top Update

Hello Lovely Readers!

Today I wanted to let you know about a temporary update for Girl on Top. Not only do I work full-time and love writing this blog, but I am also in graduate school at USC (California that is). My studies are coming to a close in the next 2 months, which also means my thesis is due very very (ugh) very soon.

Therefore, for the next month, I must crack down on my work and limit my blogging time. You can shed a tear now…

But I’m not leaving you for good, don’t worry!! I will only be posting 3 times a week until April 9th (the day my thesis is due). I will then go back to giving you new scoop each and every day!

Wish me luck on my thesis, don’t forget about your Girl on Top and I’ll miss you dearly!

xoxo Your GOT

Go the Extra Mile

Beauty Tip Day!

Don’t you always wish your nail polish would last just a little longer?! And for all you ladies with fake nails, you don’t count. I’m talking to the natural, change your color every week, plan-and-simple manicure girls.

Whether you get your nails done or you do them yourself, listen up.

You want to know how to make your nail polish go the extra mile? Dry em. Yup. That easy…OK it’s never that easy…

You must make sure your nails are REALLY dry after you’ve gone through the whole cuticle-removing/massage part of your manicure.

I’m not talking “wash-your-hands-wipe-them-off” kind of dry, I’m talking “spraying-alcohol-on-each-separate-nail-wiping-it-off-with-a-new/completely-dry-towel-and-then-using-a-paintbrush-to-apply-alcohol-to-every-nook-and-cranny-of-your-nail-bed” kind of dry.

Phew, that was long!

If you take meticulous care of the prepping part (or push your nail lady to), your polish will last you a few days longer! Now, I’m not promising you the world (I’m sorry, I really wish I could!) because we all know polish chips eventually, but I will provide you with the tools to make your hard-earned buck (and/or time) go farther.

Boo Boo Be Gone

So today’s post is a bit unconventional, but I found another product (not exactly beauty) that I’m sure some of you will need at some point or another.

Here’s the deal: This weekend I took a pretty nasty spill (starting “oh no-ing” now). But beyond that, I had every girls’ nightmare happen…yup, you guessed it. I tore up my nose. AHHH! Now, it’s not broken (THANK G-D), but there’s a not so pretty scrape right on the bridge.

Of course I spent nearly an hour in the CVS first aid aisle yesterday looking for the perfect band-aid to sport to work the next day. You know you would too. But the great news is, I think I just found it. CVS brand Advanced Healing Premium Bandages are AMAZING! They are clear (so they blend in) and they cover up the redness just perfectly. Woo hoo!

Seriously, I have a band-aid on my nose and no one has noticed. I mean up close, sure, but any healthy distance renders it virtually invisible.

Just a “beauty” tip from one Girl on Top to another. Hopefully you won’t need these puppies (or at least in the same capacity as I did).

Be careful out there, Ladies. It’s a slippery world!

Make Em Pop

I promise you, if you add a little somethin’ somethin’ to your brows, your eyes will go POP! And that little somethin’ somethin’ is a little color. You don’t need much to seal the deal. But a word to the wise, be careful in choosing your color / brand. Using the wrong color will make you pop in another way…and that would be the way you don’t want!

As your how to be a Girl on Top expert, I say that Anastasia Brow Powder Duo is your answer. We’ve talked about this before. Anastasia is the Queen of Brows, so trust her (if not me) on this one.

How do I know what color works for me, you ask? There are several ways. To give you an idea, my natural hair color is a dark dark dark brown, practically black. My brow color is a bit lighter and I use the ash/blonde palette. Anastasia has created six different palettes for you to choose from. So I promise you, you will find your color!

To find your color, you can go to Anastasia and have one of the experts help you out. OR you can go to a reputable makeup specialist to seek their expertise. Here’s a hint: only talk to a makeup specialist whose makeup looks good / is something you like, i.e. if you like a natural look, don’t go to M.A.C.
