clearly i had a little fun at sephora today! after spending 2 hours in one of my favorite stores (and with the help of a lovely make-up specialist to teach me about the new MJB line!) , i left with an assortment of goodies to brighten, heighten and enhance! i thought i’d give my ladies a sneak peek of what’s currently in my beauty bag…

1. sephora brand, transparent brow gel – *for taming unruly eyebrows

2. benefit, high brow (lightening pencil) – *to add lift to your brow line and widen/brighten the look of your eye

3. marc jacobs beauty, bronzer – *contouring is essential and good bronzer is key!

4. smashbox, eye shadow palette in sepia – *3 shadows, sans-shimmer, for the perfect every day look

5. deborah lippmann, nail polish, “happy birthday” – *because you can never go wrong with glitter!

6. benefit, fake up (concealer) – *anti-crease concealer with staying power

prime crime

over the past few years, i’ve been asked why i stopped posting on “a girl on top” and every time someone asked a ting of regret passed thru me. for those of you who haven’t had your own blog before, a blog really does have a life of it’s own. it’s this great, albeit time-consuming, thing that once you have a taste, you just want more. A too much of a good thing isn’t bad though, right?

well, when i decided to focus on my film career, i could not maintain G.O.T. to the extent i had wished to. since 2011, i’ve had incredible experiences working at strong and successful production companies and on fabulous films such as Celeste and Jesse Forever and, the currently in theaters,  The To Do List, but I cannot deny that i’ve missed being Miss G.O.T.

so, that question of “why i stopped” is something i’ve recently thought long and hard about. and you know what? i don’t have a good enough answer to it to keep the lights off here at G.O.T. i loved bringing you new and exciting products to add to your vanity and i want to fill that void I know you’ve been missing!

if you’ll have me, i hope you’ll join me once again for the fun we used to have!

to lure you back in, i decided my first post back had to be my favorite new vanity addition. a dear friend’s younger sis introduced me to a line called LIME CRIME not too long ago and the staying-power of this amazing lipstick truly is a crime.

i’m currently loving the RED VELVET VELVETINE.

it goes on glossy, finishes matte and i dare you to try to get it off your lips. go ahead, take a sip of that drink. perhaps even kiss that boy.

i was at a pool party recently, sipping on a frozen lemonade, cooling-off in the pool and my red lips did not stray.

i stayed perfectly poised for the entire day with fabulously matte and never-retouched lips. all a girl really needs is a good mascara, rosy cheeks and a great red lipstick…and ladies, i’ve found my little black dress of red lipsticks.

Bashful Beauty

I’ve mentioned Alessandra Cosmetics before and now I’m bringing her back to wet your lips a little more. For the last few months, I have been using Alessandra Bashful Blush in Liliana and I absolutely adore it.

As a gal with pretty fair skin and freckles, Liliana is the perfect rosy-pink (with a splash of shimmer) to give me that fresh, radiant glow.  It actually kind of makes me want to break out into song, “I feel pretty, oh so pretty…”

Make Em Pop

I promise you, if you add a little somethin’ somethin’ to your brows, your eyes will go POP! And that little somethin’ somethin’ is a little color. You don’t need much to seal the deal. But a word to the wise, be careful in choosing your color / brand. Using the wrong color will make you pop in another way…and that would be the way you don’t want!

As your how to be a Girl on Top expert, I say that Anastasia Brow Powder Duo is your answer. We’ve talked about this before. Anastasia is the Queen of Brows, so trust her (if not me) on this one.

How do I know what color works for me, you ask? There are several ways. To give you an idea, my natural hair color is a dark dark dark brown, practically black. My brow color is a bit lighter and I use the ash/blonde palette. Anastasia has created six different palettes for you to choose from. So I promise you, you will find your color!

To find your color, you can go to Anastasia and have one of the experts help you out. OR you can go to a reputable makeup specialist to seek their expertise. So Fresh and So Clean Clean

    I’ll reiterate something I’ve said before, cleansers need not be harsh to work. And today’s product will prove me right once again.

OK, I’m not really that cocky, but you get my drift. I received a sample of Perricone MD Nutritive Cleanser (Age Correct) just a few weeks ago and have been trying it out for my amazing readers ever since. I will say, it is one of the best cleansers I’ve ever sampled. I have consistently noticed firmer, softer skin after each consecutive face wash. 

P MD has a clean scent that, I admit, had to grow on me, but now I love it.

Sunscreen Savior

The importance of sunscreen is no secret, Ladies. And I used to be able to sympathize with you on the greasy-oily-grossness factor, but I can’t anymore. I’ve turned to the dark side and it’s all thanks to Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral SPF 30.

What is this miracle sunscreen you ask? Well, I’ll tell you. Wait for it…wait for it…

It’s a POWDER. Yup, you heard me. A powder sunscreen.

The entire process made simple and clean. The compact tube with attached brush makes this sunscreen hands-off and hassle-free. Woo hoo!

Just brush the sunscreen on your face and neck and your good to go. PTR SPF 30 contains Zinc, which is the greatest form of protection you can give your skin. Zinc is a barrier that protects you from UVA and UVB sunlight. It actually scatters light, thus blocking it from penetrating your skin’s surface. I have to tell you, the Dead Sea really knows what it is doing. AHAVA, an Israeli company, manufactures products from the Dead Sea to make your skin healthier and happier with each use. Situated next to the Dead Sea, the AHAVA headquarters has a product plant that you can actually tour. I was fortunate enough to take the tour back in 2000 and that’s where I found today’s product. AHAVA Cleansing Milk.

This facial cleanser is very mild, silky and light weight. And it really does resemble milk in both look and texture! However, don’t be fooled by its modest appearance. Just because it doesn’t contain harsh exfoliants, doesn’t mean it isn’t working. The Cleansing Milk formula was designed to give you a deceptively deep clean.
