Be Lemony Fresh

Recently I remembered why store-bought deodorants don’t work on me. And boy, I won’t forget it this time! About a month and a half ago, I developed a terrible, itchy rash from my deodorant! Gross! I was so embarrassed by the incident that I didn’t wear sleeveless shirts for a few weeks (remember, I live in L.A.) Truthfully, it was probably an allergic reaction, but it wouldn’t go away!

When I explained what was happening to me to a friend, she told me about a new deodorant that her mother actually bought for her. She, too, has experienced the horrifying reactions to deodorant — as I know many of you have, but would never admit. And this alternative deodorant really worked for her. I, in-turn, bought it and here we are today with another glorious product.

L’Occitane Aromachologie Purifying Roll-On Deodorant. Utilizing lemon oils and eucalyptus, this roll-on deodorant keeps you fresh and purifies your skin while working it’s odor-fighting magic.

The scent is a subtle lemon, but not so much that you’d smell like a car freshener!

When I first found out it was a roll-on, I was skeptical. In the past, I’ve hated roll-ons. But this product itself changed my mind. It goes on smooth, is very light, and only takes a few minutes to dry.

Thank you Sam for solving my deodorant woes!

Note: You really do need to give this product a few minutes to dry. It won’t leave a nasty white mark on your shirt, but it’s best if you let it air dry before putting on your clothes. I usually start to do my makeup while I wait for it to dry.

The Real Question Is: What Can Petroleum Jelly Do For You?

Oh how those two little words bring back some uncomfortable memories of middle school. We’ve all used it before. When we were younger, it carried connotations of something explicit. Today, it’s the cure-all product. Ladies, Vaseline is the one product you should ALWAYS have in your beauty cabinet.

Let me list for you just a few of the things Vaseline is good for:

1. Chapped lips

2. Moisturizer (put it on your elbows every night before bed…you’ll never get that old, dry, white-ish skin)

3. Keeping your feet soft and smooth (put it on your feet at night and then put on socks)

4. Severe acne sufferers can use it to soothe overly dry skin

5. Rub a little on your front teeth to keep your smile going all day (oh what I learned being a cheerleader…)

6. Rub it on your cuticles to keep them from cracking and bleeding

7. A small amount will keep your eyebrows in their place

8. Apply a small amount on your eyelids to keep your eyeshadow in place — it will also make shadows stand out more/metallic-y (great for a night out!)

9. Protects your skin in extremely cold weather

10. When applied to your lips, it extends the time your lipstick lasts and makes it go on smoother

…and the list goes on and on and on. Frankly, you can use Vaseline for almost anything you need to do, to fix any problem or improve your daily routine.

Definitely get yourself some Vaseline today. You can buy a travel size Vaseline from Target in the $1 section. I carry it on me at all times.

But don’t leave it in your car during the summer! I’ve done that by accident and it wasn’t pretty.

Sunscreen Savior

The importance of sunscreen is no secret, Ladies. And I used to be able to sympathize with you on the greasy-oily-grossness factor, but I can’t anymore. I’ve turned to the dark side and it’s all thanks to Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral SPF 30.

What is this miracle sunscreen you ask? Well, I’ll tell you. Wait for it…wait for it…

It’s a POWDER. Yup, you heard me. A powder sunscreen.

The entire process made simple and clean. The compact tube with attached brush makes this sunscreen hands-off and hassle-free. Woo hoo!

Just brush the sunscreen on your face and neck and your good to go. PTR SPF 30 contains Zinc, which is the greatest form of protection you can give your skin. Zinc is a barrier that protects you from UVA and UVB sunlight. It actually scatters light, thus blocking it from penetrating your skin’s surface. Next time you head to the beach, be sure your sunscreen contains Zinc!

Quaker Oats, Not Always Just for Eating

Remember all those little tricks your mom tried to make you feel better when you had the Chicken Pox? Well, I do! And it might be tmi, but I loved those oatmeal baths way back when. Of course I hated eating oatmeal, but I sure did love soaking in it.

For those of you who are a little behind on the times, oatmeal baths soothe dry, itchy skin. And let’s be honest, they just feel great in general.

I know most of you don’t have time to soak in steaming hot, oatmeal baths everyday (how nice does that sound right now, though?), so I present you with Trader Jacques Oatmeal Exfoliant.

You will probably better recognize Trader Jacques if I tell you it is actually Trader Joes…cute-little-fancy-French name, right?

The Oatmeal Exfoliant bar can be found at your local Trader Joes for only $2.99. I use this bar in the shower instead of body wash and get the soothing properties of oatmeal and an exfoliant all-in-one!

P.S. — The exfoliant in this bar is actually flakes of oatmeal!

If you can’t enjoy the real deal, try the next best thing!
